Station Officer Roger Bourne

Mr. Roger Bourne enlisted into the Barbados Fire Service on 15 November 1989. as one of the youngest at that time. His career spans thirty-five years of working both in firefighting and administrative roles. He has been instrumental in the development of the Information Communication and Technology unit as he served exceptionally as a technician and later as Manager of the unit. His abilities are far more reaching than firefighting as he has seamlessly substituted and assisted the departments’ registry and store officers.
Having acquired a vast amount of work experience during his career, he has served as a Fire Service Instructor, and a Fire Safety Inspector, leading fire Officer, Sub Officer and was deployed to the CARICOM Disaster Relief Unit in Haiti.

Station Officer Bourne was promoted to the post in 2024 and has remained service-driven as he assists the Deaf and hard of hearing within the community along his many other responsibilities.
He is a graduate of The Barbados Institute of Management and Productivity (BIMAP), the University of the West Indies at Cave Hill,
He was awarded the Service Medal of Honour, Queen’s Jubilee, and the “GIVE” Award, he also won the privilege to be the designer of the current logo of the Barbados Fire Service Sports and Social Club.

Station Officer Bourne’s ability to be prepared for most challenges comes from his mantra “It is better to have it and don’t want it than to want it and don’t have it”
