The Fire Prevention Unit have developed a number of educational programs since its inception such as
The Student Awareness of Fire Education Program (SAFE) program. This program aims to introduce basic fire education, safety and evacuation procedures in nursery and primary schools. This allows students and teachers alike to benefit from presentations that include a video show, a discussion with fire officers, practical sessions, and an evacuation, thereby increasing the public’s awareness of the role of the fire officer in the community.
The Lectures Delivery Program. This program aims to educate organisations such as the Youth Service, other learning facilities, church groups, business houses, neighborhood watches and various other institutions about fire and life safety. In addition to lectures, this vital information can be gained by having events such as demonstrations, pre-drill assessments and fire safety assessments
The Fire Safety Badge Training Program. This program aims to assist groups such as Brownies, Scouts etc. in acquiring their firefighter badge. It includes an assessment of a theoretical session, a tour of the fire truck to view the tools fire fighters work with and a tour of the fire station.
The Media Outreach Program. This program aims to provide vital information to the public through programs such as the 311 Radio Show aired on Sundays on VOB 92.9 at 1:30 pm and occasionally on the Morning Barbados television show.
