The importance of code enforcement to public safety cannot be overstated. If the various safety codes are not enforced and adhered to, the public and those who work and occupy our various institutions will be at risk. It is therefore essential that this Unit refocus on its original Vision and play a greater role in code enforcement. It was during the rebranding in January 2015 of the Unit, that the name was changed to “Fire Prevention and Code Enforcement Unit” (FPCEU).
The Code Enforcement section is responsible for:
- Fire safety inspections
- Processing inspection reports
- Reviewing building drawings and plans
- Conducting risk assessments
- Processing fire safety certificates and permits
