The Barbados Fire Service (BFS) will be conducting a controlled burn at Maynards, St. Peter on Wednesday, February 20, 2019. The burn, is scheduled to commence at 10 a.m. Heavy smoke is expected from this incident and will be visible from a distance.

The intent of the burn is to reduce the amount of cow-itch and reduce the risk to the surrounding communities from wildfires.  Periodic burns will be conducted involving small, controllable areas, in order to effectively manage resources and provide an optimum burn buffer zone to prevent accidental fire spread.

Fire officers will monitor the activity, and adjacent fire stations notified as a precaution to ensure public safety for areas neighboring the incident scene.
