Precautionary measures can temper the ravages of these destructive storms
The Barbados Fire Service (BFS) is urging the public not to become complacent as the prevailing dry conditions impact the country. Residents are encouraged to remain vigilant and aware of their surroundings as the frequent incidence of grass fires continue to occur across the island.
The Barbados Fire Service (BFS) will be conducting a controlled burn at Maynards, St. Peter on Wednesday, February 20, 2019. The burn, is scheduled to commence at 10 a.m. Heavy smoke is expected from this incident and will be visible from a distance.
DO NOT BURN - We do not recommend any form of open burning whatsoever, the current seasonal dry conditions outdoors increase the potential for fires to become uncontrollable. The Barbados Fire Service does not encourage or condone the act of indiscriminate burning.
